Earning South African Airways Miles for Emirates Flights
Members of the South African Airways Voyager frequent flyer program can earn miles for flights on Emirates Airline. With numerous awards for outstanding service and cuisine, Emirates is one of the world’s leading airlines, flying to over 130 destinations worldwide.
Emirates Flights Must Be in the Right Fare Class to Earn Voyager Miles
Emirates fare classes, like those of most airlines, are designated with a single letter. Only specific fare classes are eligible to earn Voyager miles:
- Economy fare class Y earns 100% of actual miles flown.
- Economy fare classes E, R, W, B, Q, K, T, X, V, G, M, U, L earn 50% of actual miles flown.
- Business fare classes J, C, I, O earn 100% of actual miles flown plus a 25% class of service bonus.
- First class fare classes F, A, P earn 100% of actual miles flown plus a 50% class of service bonus.
Emirates flight tickets must be issued in one of the fare classes shown above to earn Voyager miles. No other fare classes are eligible for mileage accrual. In addition, flights must be marketed and operated by Emirates Airline.
How to Book an Emirates Flight in the Desired Fare Class
- Book your flights on Emirates.com. This will allow you to select flights that are marketed and operated by Emirates. A travel agent can also book you into the fare class of your choice. Do not use online travel agencies like Orbitz or Expedia as the ticket may not be issued in a mileage-earning fare class.
- Look for flights that show the Emirates tail livery (the UAE flag, as in the image above) and begin with the letters "EK".
- Use this guide to Emirates fare classes to select the fare type (Saver, Flex, etc.) that corresponds to the fare class and your desired mileage earning ratio.
- Include your South African Airways Voyager number when making the reservation.
