SP129 Bucket System

Filtered Water Anywhere

The reusable 0.1 absolute micron Squeeze water filter produces clean water from freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams, as well as faucets in your home or hotel room while traveling (domestic and international).

To start filtering water, simply fill the squeeze pouch with water from your water source, then attach the Squeeze filter onto the pouch and start drinking via the removable flip top cap.

Versatile Hydration

The included adapter kit allows you to install the Squeeze filter inline on your hydration pack (sold separately). Simply fill your reservoir with dirty water and drink safe, clean water through your hydration tube. You can also create a gravity water filtration system using the adapters, included tube/drinking straw, and mesh carrying pouch to hang the Squeeze. The Squeeze filter also attaches onto water or soda bottles with a standard threaded top.

Filter Again and Again

The Squeeze filter can be cleaned and reused almost indefinitely with no expensive cartridges to replace… ever.

When water flow begins to diminish, simply perform a backwash to restore up to 98% of the filter’s flow rate and enjoy fresh, clean water wherever you roam.

Sawyer's International Mission

Sawyer believes everyone deserves access to clean water — from hikers in the backcountry to indigenous people groups in the remotest corners of the world.

For over 10 years, Sawyer has been working with a variety of charities and churches who are on a mission to make a long-lasting impact in the lives of those around the world without access to clean drinking water.

Hollow Fiber Membrane

Sawyer’s water filters are comprised of tiny hollow fiber membranes that allow water to enter their core through tiny micro-pores.

Thicker fiber walls combined with a smaller inner diameter make Sawyer fibers 75% stronger* than typical hollow fiber membranes, giving you a fast flow and enabling the filter to be continually backwashed forcefully to restore up to 98% of the original flow rate.

* Clean Water Institute of Calvin University; July, 2018

0.1 Absolute Micron Filtering

Each Sawyer water filter features 0.1 micron absolute filtration, meaning there is no pore size larger than 0.1 micron in size.

This makes it nearly impossible for microplastics, harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella typhi (which cause Cholera and Typhoid) to pass through.

Fiber Protection

Sawyer's hollow fiber membranes are fully encased and sealed to keep them protected. When fibers are not enclosed, physical damage of exposed fibers could allow harmful pathogens to pass through.

Tested 3 Times

Every Sawyer filter is performance tested three separate times during the manufacturing process for your protection.

Testing occurs after the fiber element construction and twice after casing assembly to ensure no harmful pathogens leak through the sealed case or internal O-rings.

Works Fantastic, make sure to back flush occasionally

Works Fantastic, make sure to back flush occasionally
I use this water filter everywhere i travel. You must flush the first couple uses before drinking the first time otherwise it will tast funky. I have had a problem with water flow rate slow, when this happens it needs to be back flushed. I just used this on my travels to cancun and it worked great. i also hike and backpack a lot and this is lightweight, quick, and works great.

I have been using this filter for the last decade in the Republic of Panama and I had never had an issue.
It is simply perfect for the wilderness.
Before, I had the Sawyer Mini due to its smaller size and weight, but the Squeeze is much, much faster than the Mini, so the Mini is not worth.
I highly recommend to get a bigger pouch that the ones that come with the filter, because it will save you a lot of time refilling them.
The fact that any plastic bottle can fit in the filter it is a plus. The filter also fits in the garden taps, but my experience is that there is always a leak, but when traveling to remote community where the tap water is not reliable, it is another plus.
It last for years. The last one I had started smelling bad. I tried with vinegar, but it did not work, so I decided to replace it. For the money it costs, it is not worth taking any risks.

This filter is quite flexible since you can use it both for on the go filling and as a gravity filter.

However, I found something like Katadyn Befree much more comfortable to use on the go. Firstly, because the mouth of the bottle is bigger and it just takes a couple of seconds to fill it. And also since the filter goes inside the bottle the bottle is more compact and more comfortable to use (i.e. just put it in the side pocket of a backpack).

Sawyer's package is great, it has two foldable 1 liter bladders, but their mouth is small and it takes more time and effort to fill. And when filled you screw the filter on it and the whole thing is big, long and overall uncomfortable to carry and drink from.

At the same time Sawyer packages a hose and a bag, which makes it a perfect gravity filter for a camping situation.

Also, the resource of Sawyer is way bigger than a Katadyn (kind of a life time).

So, it's best to have both Sawyer and Katadyn. However, if your primary use case is on-the-go water filtering and you spend more time walking than camping, Katadyn will be the better choice.

Title says it. Use this for backpacking. Ive filtered non-potable water from water pumps on trails, grabbed bags of water from moving streams, etc. I use a squeeze bag and i have a bigger 3L cnoc bag for gravity filtering when im stopped on a break. I have a more serious backpacking filter with a ceramic filter if i were to be outside of the US, but anywhere in the US, I'd say this is good enough. Hasn't let me down yet.
Also, the prepper types, this is a decent one to keep in your stores. Boiling is good and all, but not always a great option.

Please do a little research on this company. I thought I was just buying a water filter for my kid to use back packing in the Boy Scouts. I stumbled on a video by Dan Becker with is backpacking product reviews. He tells the story of how awesome Sawyer is. They donate over 80% of their profits to supply filters to areas of the world that do not have clean drinkable water. Every filter you buy can help several people who do not have access to clean healthy water. Please support them. Sawyer also makes great product for bug/mosquito protection. I have used several of their products and have not been let down. For that reason alone I would continue using their products. I had no idea until a month ago of how much Sawyer gives back. Please please do a little research and discover for yourself how truly wonderful Sawyer is.

Let me just say I love this product! It filters really well and is super easy to use with minimal squeezing. It comes with a net to hang it for gravity filtering, although it’s much faster to squeeze using the bag reservoirs so I would only use the gravity setup if you are trying to filter a really large amount of water while you chill. I personally don’t like using the filter in line on a hydration bladder because it means dirty water gets sucked through the tubing which can be hard to clean. I prefer to just use the water reservoir pouches provided and squeeze a couple of them into my camelback. Same thing with my water bottles. Although it doesn’t require a ton of suction to drink directly from the filter, I prefer to fill my water bottle with clean water and drink freely when I’m super thirsty instead of having to suck through the filter.

Overall, the sawyer is much easier to use than the life straws, are much more durable, and have a longer life span. The sawyer is supposedly rated for life and just requires regular cleaning.

The reason I’m giving it 4 stars is that in cold weather, the micro fibers in the filter will freeze and break, so this is not ideal for mountaineering or winter camping. You can store this in your jacket pocket during the day and your sleeping bag at night to prevent this, just takes some getting used to.

Another con is price gouging. I purchased the full sized Sawyer filtration system in July of 2023 for $29 without a sale or coupon. I came to buy another on April 2024 and now they are $46!

Glad I went with sawyers squeeze! Has more flow than the mini and is one of the cheapest good filters. I like how I can use the storage bag as a gravity filter as it has a strap on the end. I might get the cnoc bag for next years trip but honestly the included bags to fill with gray water and a 1 litre water bottle to use for clean water works out great, just blow into the bags to expand them before filling. I think that’s the biggest problem with the negative reviews on the bags. Unlike other reviews I find them to be well built, just don’t over due it with pressure let the filter do most of the work and apply a small amount of pressure if desisted. I think everyone should own one incase of an emergency. Just a side note i swayed to sawyers also because of the company’s humanitarian cause.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for treking
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 30, 2023
Used this for a 3 week trek in Nepal last month. Very glad I chose this over the BeFree/alternative options in the end — it's extremely light to carry in a day pack (and comes with a light drawstring bag to carry the different bits and pieces), filters pretty fast, and most importantly should last a long time with proper care. Note that many other filter options need to be replaced after a certain amount of time, so theoretically this is the more sustainable option.

Oh and I didn't get ill from a multitude of water sources — so the filter most likely did its job!

In the UK you can find a few plastic bottles that pair with the Sawyer thread (search Reddit for this if needed). However, I found the plastic pouches that came with the filter to be much more convenient. These roll up flat and take up much less space than a water bottle would in your bag.

Highly recommended!

Geschätze 6 Liter am Tag, also ca. 150 Liter bisher.
