Although it’s not part of an airline alliance, Etihad Airways’ partnership with American Airlines enables the Abu Dhabi-based carrier to reach more destinations and offer more flight choices. Etihad’s agreement with American Airlines also allows passengers to earn AAdvantage miles for Etihad flights.

You can add your American Airlines AAdvantage account information to an Etihad flight during the booking process or after the flight, provided it’s been at least 3 days.

How to add an American AAdvantage account when booking Etihad flights
Here’s how to credit Etihad miles to your American Airlines AAdvantage account during the booking process.
1. Search for flights on the Etihad Airways website.
2. Select the desired flights and fare type.
3. On the passenger information screen, click “enter your loyalty programme number”. Select American Airlines from the drop-down list and enter your AAdvantage number.

4. Enter passenger information and click the “Continue” button. Follow the instructions to complete the booking.
How to add Etihad flights to your American Airlines account after the flights
You can request to add Etihad flights to an American Airlines AAdvantage account after the flights if it’s been at least 3 days since the last flight. Use this form to make the request.
Enter your AAdvantage number and 13-digit ticket number. You may be asked for additional information which you can find on your boarding pass stub and / or ticket receipt.
How can I tell if Etihad flights are eligible to earn American Airlines miles?
